What we do
We implement the strategies and policies of the university's Research and Enterprise Committee. Our function is to support the university's research staff in conducting innovative research in accordance with national regulatory frameworks and funding bodies, including:
Research Grants Administration: The team has experience supporting grants from UK, European and non-European funders, and assists researchers with applications from initial outline and budgeting to submission.
Research Excellence Framework: The team co-ordinate the university's submission to national research benchmarking exercises such as the REF.
Promoting Goldsmiths research to funding bodies: When funding bodies run consultation exercises, the team co-ordinate the university's response.
Researcher Career Development: Researchers are vital to the future of a research-intensive university like Goldsmiths. In line with our commitments to the Researcher Development Concordat and the HR Excellence in Research Award, we support training and career development activity for research staff at all levels.
Open Access: Open access recognises the public benefits of free access to publicly-funded research. The team, in collaboration with colleagues in the Library, leads on the implementation and development of open access systems that accord with funders' requirements. Goldsmiths Research Online, GRO, is our publicly accessible repository.
Research Ethics and Integrity: The Research team co-ordinates the work of the university Research Ethics and Integrity Sub-Committee and its broad remit (including assessment of ethical protocols for research projects and management of research staff) with other academic and professional services departments.
