Event overview
Major exhibition commemorating 25 since the historic strike at Wapping involving the print unions and Rupert Murdoch's News International
On 24th January, 1986, Rupert Murdoch's News International group moved production of its four national newspapers to Wapping in London's Docklands.
Over 5,000 production and clerical workers were sacked overnight. The journalists were not sacked but more than 100 - the "refuseniks" - took a stand on principle and walked out of their jobs.
The exhibition presents dramatic images and accounts of the dispute and the challenges for print and media workers. Pictures, leaflets, posters and memorabilia will be on display.
There will be a public launch on Tuesday 4 October at 6pm featuring speakers directly involved in the dispute.
