Event overview
This two-day workshop aims to change the terms of debate on the UK economic ‘recovery’ by bringing key actors together into dialogue about the known, as well as barely discovered, spaces, places and people who make up ‘the economy’.
The event brings together a roster of heavy hitters who are crafting new ways of thinking about the economy:
Andrew McGettigan (Author, The Great University Gamble),
Ann Pettifor (Director of Policy Research in Macroeconomics, Author, Just Money: How Society Can Break the Despotic Power of Finance.)
Andrew Leyshon (Professor of Economic Geography and Head of the School of Geography, University of Nottingham)
Andrew Gamble (Professor of Politics, University of Cambridge; Author, Crisis Without End?: The Unravelling of Western Prosperity),
Brett Scott (Author, Heretics Guide to Global Finance),
Englebert Stockhammer (Professor of Economics, Politics and History, Kingston University; Co-Author, Wage-led growth: an equitable strategy for economic recovery)
James Meadway (Senior Economist, New Economics Foundation),
Mat Lawrence (Research Fellow, Institute for Public Policy Research),
Mick Moran (Professor of Government, Manchester Business School)
Ruth Pearson (Emeritus Professor of Development Studies, University of Leeds)
Steve Keen (Professor and Head of the School of Economics, History and Politics at Kingston University)
Shaun French (Associate Professor in Economic Geography, University of Nottingham)
It’s time to place our focus on economic ‘discovery’. This will be challenging and dynamic event that seeks to build networks and create a platform for engagement among like-minded people seeking new ways of thinking about the economy.
