The global reach of Goldsmiths, University of London has helped establish us as one of the top 50 universities in the world for international students, according to new research.
Our diverse community of international staff and students is one of the main reasons for success in the QS World University Rankings 2015/16.
According to the survey we are the 38th most international university in the world – and rank 175th for international staff.
The QS survey says almost four in 10 of our students (38 per cent) are from outside the UK - EU and non-EU countries - and nearly a third of academics (29 per cent) are also from outside the UK.
Our international students come from some 130 different countries.
This representation was highlighted as a major reason for our rise up the overall rankings to the 451-60 category – up from the 501-50 range last year.
We have also scored highly academically, with Goldsmiths ranked at 26th in the UK and 153rd in the world in the Arts and Humanities category.
For the 12th edition of the QS World University Rankings, 121,000 survey responses were collected, leading to 3,539 universities considered and 891 evaluated. Over five million people worldwide view the results.
Goldsmiths Warden Patrick Loughrey said:
“This report shows we are a truly international university. We are deeply embedded within the worldwide academy – and take great pride in how it sees us. Our research helps guide global thinking, with impact around the world driven by students and staff.”
Mayor of London Boris Johnson hailed the city as the "education capital of the world”.
He added: "The city’s education sector is going from strength to strength, attracting the world’s top talent and producing the next generation of great thinkers and leaders.”
