Chromorama

A striking large-scale artwork has been gifted to Goldsmiths and is being installed on our campus.

A new landmark for Lewisham

Chromorama is a 21-metre tall artwork which features 35 primary colour lightboxes, created by renowned artist and Goldsmiths’ Emeritus Professor of Art, David Batchelor.

The artwork is being installed as we mark 120 years since Goldsmiths opened as a University in 1905, a milestone in our journey of creativity, learning, and civic engagement. Installation is expected to conclude in Autumn term 2025.

“I am truly delighted that this work has found a home at Goldsmiths… I am particularly happy that this work will sit within the university campus but will be visible far beyond it. It is important to me that the work looks outwards. I hope Chromorama might form a kind of multi-coloured invitation from the college to the wider community of New Cross.”
