Statement on transphobia
Goldsmiths has issued a statement after receiving reports of transphobic graffiti and stickers appearing on our campus.

The institutional statement reads:
“At Goldsmiths we are proud of our open campus and inclusive community where everyone is welcome. There is no room for transphobia of any kind and we are putting in place measures to ensure that all students, staff and visitors feel supported and respected.
“Everyone in our community should understand that transphobia is unacceptable, is not tolerated and that appropriate action will be taken against anyone who is found to be responsible for such behaviours.”
The Warden wrote to all students and staff on Thursday 23 February 2023 to share this statement, set out further actions Goldsmiths is taking and signpost support available from the College to trans students and staff.
A second message was sent on Monday 27 February 2023, to offer an apology and clarification over a paragraph in the first email which had caused upset among our community.
This part of the message appeared to imply that trans people are a "subject for debate". This was not at all what was intended and we are sorry for any misunderstanding and hurt this may have caused. Trans people are equal and valued members of the Goldsmiths community and there is nothing to debate in this.
