How accessible Learn.gold is
We know some parts of Learn.gold are not currently fully accessible. We work to achieve and maintain WCAG 2.1 AA standards, but it is not always possible for all our content to be accessible. Where content is likely to create a barrier, we’ll state a reason and offer alternatives.
Non-accessible content
This website is partially compliant with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) version 2.1 AA standard, due to the non-compliances listed below.
Non-compliance with the accessibility regulations
We are aware of the following issues:
Some documents may contain non-text content, such as images that do not have a description or text alternative. Assistive technologies that rely on text alternatives will not understand the purpose of these images. This fails success WCAG 2.1 success criterion 1.1.
Some documents may not contain headings that provide structure to the document. Users and Assistive technologies will not be able to recognise the information, structure or relationships of the document. This fails success criterion 1.3.1.
Some documents may contain text with low contrast between the text and background. This can cause the text to be difficult to read for users. This fails success criterion 1.4.3.
Some documents may contain scanned images of text that are not optical character recognised (OCR). Assistive technologies will not be able to read or extract the words from these documents. Users will not be able to select, edit, resize, or reflow text. This fails success criterion 1.4.5.
We are currently working to fix these issues as part of our transition to Moodle 4.3 and aim to have this completed by September 2025.
Content that’s not within the scope of the accessibility regulations
The accessibility regulations do not require us to fix PDFs or other documents published before 23rd September 2018 if they’re not essential to providing our services. Any new PDFs or Word documents published on Learn.gold after this date are required to meet accessibility standards.
