Although low-caste weddings did not involve the same level of expense as that of the high castes, nonetheless, many people would attend and the format was broadly similar. The groom did not come on a horse but was carried in a palanquin and shielded by an umbrella. The dancers at this wedding were from a particular sub-caste called Badi who travelled around performing at such rituals.
