These prizes are awarded each year to students across the Art Department in recognition of exceptional achievement.

The Warden's Prize

The Warden’s Prizes (formerly the Warden’s Purchase Prizes) are awarded to selected students in celebration of the achievement of work in their final exhibitions.

Hamad Butt Memorial Prize

The Hamad Butt Memorial Prize was established in 1996 through a generous donation from the Butt family. Hamad Butt was born in Lahore in 1962, graduating from Goldsmiths in 1990 before his untimely death in 1994. His installation-based practice pioneered a conjunction between art and science. His visually striking and provocative work brought him quickly to recognition which continues today.

The Nicholas and Andrei Tooth Travelling Scholarship

Awarded to a graduating BA Fine Art student to enable a period of time travelling, to pursue work and ideas, and present a show at the following year’s Undergraduate exhibitions.

The Nicholas and Andrei Tooth Travelling Scholarship was established in 1989 through the generosity of the Tooth family.

Neville Burston Award for Painting

First presented in 1998, the award is given to an exceptional graduating BA Fine Art student whose focus is painting.

Goldsmiths and Lewisham Arthouse Residency and Exhibition Award

Given to a graduating student from BA Fine Art or BA Fine Art and History of Art, the award provides a short residency and solo exhibition at Lewisham Arthouse, as well as a stipend and continued access to facilities at Goldsmiths.

Hamburg HfBK Art Schools Alliance Residency

The Art Schools Alliance was established 14 years ago when a group of Goldsmiths students visited the Hochschule für Bildende Künste (HfBK), Hamburg for an exchange. It now also enables two graduating students from BA Fine Art to spend a 6 month residency there.

Vienna AdBK Art Schools Alliance Residency

This award enables one graduating student from BA Fine Art to spend a 4 month residency at the Akademie der Bildenden Künste (AdBK) in Vienna.

BA Fine Art Critical Studies Dissertation Award

This is an award to the best Year 3 BAFA Critical Studies Dissertation. It highlights the importance of critical studies and art writing in exploring how art is made, seen and understood.
