The Centre for Russian Music presents a concert of original compositions from Russian composer Leonid Bobylev
Leonid Bobylev is a composer, musicologist, and professor.
Bobylev has composed operas, ballets, concertos, symphonies, oratorios and cantatas, also writing chamber music for solo instruments and ensembles, music for theatre and motion pictures.
Bobylev is the author of the study "The History and principles of Teaching Composition in the First Russian Conservatories of St.-Petersburg and Moscow" (where Tchaikovsky, Rimsky-Korsakov and other Great Russian composers were teachers), and "Russian composer pedagogy. Tradition. Personality. Schools " Both works are published (1992, 2014).
Programme:
1 "Diatonic polyphony", performed by Julia Ryabova, piano.
2. Sonata for cello and piano, performed by Anatoly Liberman, cello, and Julia Ryabova, piano.
Intermission
1. Two Japanese tales to the poems of Arseny Tarkovsky, performed by Victoria Shereshevskaya, soprano and Julia Ryabova, piano.
2. "The last kiss", a monologue from the Opera on the novel by Boris Pasternak "Doctor Zhivago", performed by Victoria Shereshevskaya, soprano and Julia Ryabova, piano.
3. Concerto for solo violin, performed by Simon Smith, violin
4. "...about Schubert...", fantasy for piano 4 hands, performed by Yuliya Ryabova and Leonid Bobylev.
THE CONCERT WILL BE FOLLOWED BY A VODKA RECEPTION!
