Event overview
Herbert Somerton Foxwell and the Goldsmiths’ Company's Library of Economic Literature
Abstract:
As an academic writer, Herbert Somerton Foxwell, of Cambridge and London, would never have survived a Research Excellence exercise. As a compulsive collector of old economics books at a time when they were going cheap, he was incomparable. This seminar looks at the library he amassed, sold to the Worshipful Company of Goldsmiths, and continued to develop for another decade after it entered the University of London’s Senate House Library.
