Recently returned from an exhibition at the Barbican Music Library, The Centre for Russian Music at Goldsmiths opens up its collections for display.
This exhibition features rare Soviet scores, texts and vinyl, and tells stories of Soviet composers’ complex negotiations with political power, and of unusual lines of contact with the West. Contributions also come from the Bush Collection and from the Ivashkin-Schnittke Archive, which holds original compositional sketches by Alfred Schnittke. The Schnittke display marks 20 years since the composer’s death.
