Join Pete Furniss and guest artists The Ligeti Quartet (Goldsmiths Ensemble-in-Residence 2018-21) for this open "meet the performer" session
The Ligeti Quartet have been at the forefront of modern and contemporary music since their formation in 2010. They've established a reputation of breaking new ground through innovative programming, and championing of today’s most exciting composers and artists. They perfrom at landmark venues around the world (including Carnegie Hall, Wigmore Hall, the Purcell Room, Barbican Hall, and Kings Place) and also regularly escape the concert stage to appear at museums, galleries, theatres, pubs, in an IMAX Theatre, on a fishing boat, in a cave, and on iceberg sculptures as part of a Greenpeace campaign. They've collaborated with artists from all types of musical backgrounds including Anna Meredith, Laura Jurd, Seb Rochford (Polar Bear), Shabaka Hutchings , Shed 7 and Submotion Orchestra.
Today they'll share some of their collective (and individual) musical experiences, ideas, projects, collaborations, challenges, and influences with us in a question and answer session with Pete Furniss. The quartet will also play some brief examples from their varied repertoire, both performing live and discussing video and audio examples.
There will be an opportunity to ask questions during the session, and to meet the players afterwards briefly, before they dash off to rehearse for their Huddersfield Contemporary Music Festival performance on Saturday.

This session may be recorded and filmed as part of a new Meet the Performer podcast series. If you'd like to take part in the recording, filming, or editing of this event, please contact Pete Furniss.
