Samuel Barber: Knoxville: Summer of 1915, for soprano and orchestra (soloist: Bonnie Callaghan)
As well as Samuel Barber's evocative and nostalgic depiction of early 20th-century Tennessee for soprano and orchestra, we also feature 2 lesser known works by African-American composers William Grant Still and George Walker.
The Goldsmiths Sinfonia, conducted by Andrew Zolinsky, perform the end of term concert in a new venue for the University, St Alfege in Greenwich, a beautiful Hawksmoor church that has been the centre of worship in Greenwich for over 1000 years.
