Event overview
This workshop explores the violent displacement of people from the city through racialised expulsions. Engaging with brutal processes of mismanagement, profit-making and destruction through the collusions of market and state, we forefront the long histories of urban subjugation and segregation.
Our workshop aims to foster a rich and creative dialogue across those who experience such displacement, further highlighting the inventive and assertive repertoires of resistance and re-making. We reflect on the spaces of Brixton, Elephant and Castle, Grenfell, Southall, Sophiatown and beyond, bringing together film, music, poetry, photography and discussion. We hope for lively and thoughtful conversations and welcome your participation.
