Event overview
A one-day symposium dedicated to lesbian identity and feminist art history
Resisting Relations is a one-day symposium dedicated to the sometime resistant, often divergent and frequently precarious ways that lesbian identity appears in histories of feminist art.
Through a series of performances and conversations, the event will consider theories of difference and resistance in relation to sexual identity; the politics of collaboration in feminist creative practice and the disruptive force of queerness to lesbian and feminist politics of representation.
Foregrounding experimental forms, erotic attachments and political associations, Resisting Relations invites contributors and audience to reflect on new approaches to thinking about lesbian, queer and trans identities and communities through the lens of art and culture.
Contributors include Naeem Davies and Tia Simon-Campbell (BBZ), Mason Leaver-Yap, Yve Lomax, Taylor Le Melle, Nat Raha, Dorothea Smartt, Del LaGrace Volcano.
