A one-day workshop at Goldsmiths hosting presentations, panel discussions, and demos in the realm of VR, promoting conversation around UK-China partnerships and networking.
The UK has been a global leader in the creative industry with London being the hub of numerous companies in the area of video games, films and TV, and more recently immersive art & technology. London has a long history of being the home to UK and EU headquarters for a variety of big names in the creative and tech industries, and is supported by its right cultural heritage in art and theatre, and respected educational institutions.
China with its rapidly developing economy is facing the challenge of transitioning from a manufacturing-based economy to a knowledge-based one, and with the support of its mass internal market and high volume of government investment, it is actively seeking global partnerships to find innovative new projects in this booming industry.
Goldsmiths, located in London, has a rich global reputation in creative industries and strong international links with China, and acts as the perfect host for this workshop. This one-day workshop at Goldsmiths will be supported by presentations, panel discussions, and demos. Through this workshop, we believe we can develop and nurture a close conversation around UK-China partnerships and network development in the area of immersive art & technology, utilising Goldsmiths’ key strengths to realise these goals.
This workshop will be Led by the Department of Computing at Goldsmiths. Computing has an outstanding track record covering a range of skills and technologies including VR / AR, Data Science and analytics, AI and machine learning, creative robotics, computational art and computer games development which will be part of this workshop.
Activities: short talks, networking sessions, and demos
Expected attendees: Goldsmiths academics, UK and Chinese companies and independent artists with an interest in immersive technologies.
Aim: Learn about the practicalities about doing business with China. Also an opportunity to form a consortium for a further AHRC grant
