Event overview
Goldsmiths Writers' Centre presents...Alan Davies on memoir, trauma, adolescence and adulthood
Alan Davies is a beloved actor, comedian – and of course a wonderful writer and a former Goldsmiths student. He will join us to talk about Just Ignore Him, his compelling memoir of his adolescence and adulthood, which has been described as “a beautifully told story of resilience and redemption, sometimes blackly comic, frequently heart breaking”. It conjures a vanished world of Green Shield Stamps, Bob-a-Job week and Whizzer & Chips; shifting between his 1970s upbringing and his life today, Davies moves poignantly from innocence to experience to the clarity of hindsight, always with a keen sense of the absurd. It’s published this autumn by Little, Brown.
