Event overview
GoldLingS is a seminar series organised by the Linguistic section of the Department of English and Creative Writing at Goldsmiths, University of London
Shawnea’s PhD project investigates how English as a lingua franca (ELF) communication between healthcare providers and ethnic minority patients in Hong Kong is perceived. Most of her data is collected through remote interviews. Having recruited 61 participants, she has a lot of interviews to analyse and a number of frameworks to consider for analysis. In this session, Shawnea will share what she has learnt about conducting interviews remotely and about different frameworks, such as grounded theory, narrative analysis, thematic analysis, and qualitative content analysis; what she thinks she will not use, and what she thinks she may use.
