Event overview
A concert of music by women from the past and present, performed by cellist Ivana Peranic and pianist Rachel Fryer
Illuminate was founded in 2017 and seeks to promote the work of emerging women composers and performers, and provide a platform for historical repertoire by women composers to sit alongside new works. Illuminate was established by Dr Angela Elizabeth Slater and ran with fellow composers and co-directorsDr Blair Boyd and Sarah Westwood, freelance composers who are strong advocates of the promotion of women’s music both past and present.
This autumn, Illuminate Women's Music is presenting two seasons of concerts and composers. These concerts have been rearranged from our original 2020 plans and we are delighted now to present a series of concerts with performers in residence Naomi Sullivan & Kumi Matsuo (Season I saxophone and piano), and Rachel Fryer & Ivana Peranic (Season II cello and piano) presenting new commissioned works by Season I and II composers: Angela Elizabeth Slater, Blair Boyd, Sarah Westwood, Lara Poe, Nina Danon, Rachael Gibson, Carmen Ho, Michele Abandono, Chloe Knibbs, and Hayley Jenkins.
