More about the films:
I AM BELMAYA (UK/Nepal 2021)
An inspirational tale of rebellion, courage and hope in Nepal. Silenced and subjugated for most of her life, Belmaya takes up the movie camera to tell her story. Spanning 14 years, the documentary follows Belmaya’s transformational journey as she stands up to her husband and society, and reclaims her voice through filmmaking. See https://belmaya.com/
With co-director director Sue Carpenter.
ELLES, LES (IN)VISBLES (2021) 20m French / English subtitles
Following the stories of four undocumented women in Geneva, the film recounts intimate and visual testimonies of care economy workers, calling upon the audience to open our eyes on the (in)visible that surrounds us.
With director Maevia Griffiths (current Goldsmiths MCCS MA student).
The discussion with the film makers will be chaired by Dr Feyzi Ismail, Lecturer in Global Policy and Activism, MCCS.
