Event overview
Join us for this informal and eclectic evening of music making, featuring The Laptop Ensemble, Improvisors Collective, String Ensemble, Cello Ensemble & chamber groups.
Students from the department share music they have been working on this term, including JS Bach Brandenburg Concerto No 4 (with soloists Katie Grout, Meghan Marshall and Francesca Girdlestone), arrangements by Natalie Dalcher and the Danish String Quartet and the Marigold Quartet play 2 Movements by Harry Burleigh.
The Laptop Ensemble, directed by Jenn Kirby, makes use of controllers and sensors, explores digital instrument design and live electronics, and collaborates with other musicians/ensembles/art forms.
The Improvisors Collective, led by Iris Garrelfs, range from open graphic/text scores and structures to completely free improvisation. It features all manners of instruments / technologies / voices / crisp packets.
