The Centre for Arts and Learning, Goldsmiths is focusing on what it means to be All For the Arts in 2022-23. CAL is collaborating with A Particular Reality for this day symposium on anti-racism in art and learning.
A Particular Reality is an inter-institutional collective formed by students, alumni and educators from the Fine Art departments at Goldsmiths University, Kingston School of Art, Manchester Metropolitan University and Middlesex University. With a commitment to building creative learning environments upon the values of equity, care and collaboration; APR addresses art, learning and anti-racism, within and beyond practice-based education.
Speakers on this day include Marlene Wylie and Sophie Leach from the National Society in Art and Design Education Anti-Racist Art Education Action Group; Damali Ibreck who is currently working on projects such as London Unseen and Voices for the Future; also Miranda Matthews Head of Centre for Arts and Learning who is presenting on Intimidating Architecture and Flexible Takeovers. A Particular Reality speakers include Sandhaya Gurung and Warsha Ahmed, who will be considering the question What does an anti racist classroom look like?; Xuan Yeo, presenting Outstretched and Alice Sun and Will Rose who will discuss Shifting the Margins.
