Event overview
Join us for the launch of the Counter-Terrorism and Human Rights Law and Policy Clinic. Dr Fatima Ahdash, will be in conversation with Professor Clive Stafford Smith OBE.
Over the last two decades the UK, the US and other states have been in an all-consuming ‘War on Terror.’ Preventing and countering terrorism and shoring up national security have become important law and policy priorities in states all over the Global North. But how effective have these counter-terrorism laws and policies been? In what ways, and to what extent, have they impacted the human rights of individuals, families and communities? Has this impact on human rights been even and consistent, or has it targeted specific ‘suspect communities?’
To discuss these urgent and significant questions, join us for the launch of the Counter-Terrorism and Human Rights Law and Policy Clinic on Tuesday 7th February, 4.30-6pm in RHB 144. Our lecturer in Law, Dr Fatima Ahdash, will be in conversation with visiting professor, Professor Clive Stafford Smith OBE whose activism in the area of national security and human rights has been trailblazing.
Please note that although this event will launch the Counter-Terrorism and Human Rights Law and Policy Clinic, all Goldsmiths students are warmly welcome.
