Event overview
Detective work, drinks... & donuts!
The 80’s called and there’s been a murder… City Hall is screaming for suspects. The hotshot trainees of Detective Squad at New Cross Police Department (NCPD) are the only ones left to solve the case. Donuts will be provided.
Tubbs & Crockett, Cagney & Lacey, The Bill, Columbo, and Magnum PI are all washing their hair. Morse and Regan haven’t even had their dinner.
We need you; the A-Team, to be at the scene of the crime on Wednesday 8th, Thursday 9th March, or Friday 10th March from 19:00 – 22:00 hrs (7 - 10pm).
This is what you joined up for! Time-travel back to the 80s and solve a murder that baffled the pros. An immersive science-theatre event combining the best creative and research talent Goldsmiths has to offer! All we need now is you, and your legendary crime-fighting ability!
On arrival you’ll be briefed by NCPD Chief of Police, who will provide you with everything you need for the evening. Gather evidence by exploring crime scenes and interrogating key witnesses, recording evidence in your police notebook as you go. We need the name of your prime suspect by end of shift! Before heading home, you’ll be asked to report back to the future to receive 21st Century scientific feedback on your sleuthing skills.
Brought to you by Goldsmiths' award-winning Forensic Psychology Unit (FPU) in collaboration with the Department of Theatre and Performance.
As with all prior FPU events, your evening will be packed with real psychological research! With results coming in live via fax at the end of the night. It promises to be an entertaining and informative night, blending the arts and science with just a touch of Old Spice, Babycham, polyester, piano ties, and 80s hits.
Dress code: Roll up the sleeves of your mac, back-comb your barnet, and shake those shoulder pads - come along as your favourite detective, crime-fighting duo, or renegade cop with a disregard for authority. 80s dress is encouraged, but not compulsory.
Hard and soft drinks will be available throughout the evening – card payments only.
**Two free drinks for each person on first night only**
