Event overview
The Asian Music Unit (AsMU) at Goldsmiths is delighted to present a concert by the Thai Music Circle in the UK.
This concert will showcase Thai classical music performed by the leading ensemble in the UK. It will feature enchanting compositions performed on the ensemble used in Thai classical music, the mahori. These large ensembles are made up of different combinations of percussion, wind and string instruments and are tuned to a distinctive seven-note scale (equiheptatonic scale).

About the Thai Music Circle:
The Thai Music Circle (TMC) was formed in 1991 under the patronage of Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn of Thailand. It is based at Buddhapadipa Temple in Wimbledon. Charlotte Howard and Artit Phonron are TMC tutors and performers. The recipient of royal sponsorship, Artit is currently a PhD student in Music - Ethnomusicology in the Music Department at Goldsmiths.
This concert follows on from the afternoon workshop.
