Event overview
This early evening concert features Alwynne Pritchard (voice) and Alistair Zaldua (e-viola+live electronics)
The Contemporary Music Research Unit are thrilled to welcome the internationally renowned performers Alwynne Pritchard and Alistair Zaldua, who present a performance as a result of their long-distance collaborative work during 2021- 2022.
The duet worked via online improvisation rehearsal and discussion between Canterbury, Manchester and Bergen/Norway. From out of these meetings they formed an experimental performance practice that moves between improvisation, sound art, composition and theatre. This is an ongoing and essentially unfinished practice, and, as such, this concert is a part of this development.
Alwynne Pritchard is a British composer and is not only well known and internationally performed as a composer in her own right but is also a highly versatile and inspired vocalist, actor, and writer based in Bergen, Norway, and her work is regularly commissioned by soloists, ensembles and festivals for contemporary music around the world.

Alistair Zaldua is a composer, improviser and violinist based in Manchester. In addition to his work as a solo improviser, he performs in a duet for organ and live electronics with Lauren Redhead. Current projects involve duet improvisation work with Alwynne Pritchard (Bergen), Christoph Gallio (London/Aarau) and Franziska Baumann (London/Bern).
