Event overview
The online presentation covers the importance of context in sound, and the physical relation between our body and this context underlying sound.
The presentation covers the importance of context in sound, especially with regards to location and duration, and the physical relation between our body and this context underlying sound. Air is discussed as being of particular significance: through its meteorological qualities and their correlation to sound; its correspondence to our corporeality, both by sustaining life and its relation to our mode of being; and also architectural engagements with volumes of air and the way in which architectural space sculpts air and sound via nodes and modes.
Examples explored in the talk include: the current pan-European Open Form Pavilion of Air series of audioworks; work with pipe organ (SIRENE, Bronze Lands, Beyond Enclosures); and work with specific uses of architecture (Threshold Works; James Turrell's Skyspaces used for Climata).
