Event overview
MA Photography and Urban Cultures 2023 - Group Show 25-28 OCTOBER 2023 11:00-18:00 daily Private view: 25th October 18:00-21:00
The exhibition Barely Noticed showcases the outstanding work produced by students from the Master of Arts in Photography and Urban Cultures programme at Goldsmiths University of London. Developed in collaboration with the Centre for Urban and Community Research, this course intersects photographic practice with urban theory and the visual study of urban cultures. The programme encourages creative interplay between practical skills and academic investigation. Students consider cutting-edge debates in cultural and social theory through a critical research lens while actively developing their photographic practice.
Urban environments and diversity of cities have provided much inspiration. Together, the images provide insight into the students' development as interdisciplinary artists and researchers, using photography and academic investigation to bring overlooked or barely noticed social narratives, identities, personal stories, urban spaces and city life into focus with appreciation for and respect to the wealth of stories in cities today.
