Event overview
From Brexit to BrECHRit? Is it really possible that the UK might leave the ECHR?
UK Withdrawal From the ECHR (‘BrECHRit’) - From Taboo to Tenable?
Join us for a fascinating online event with Dr. Ed Bates, University of Leicester, as he discusses the controversial topic of the UK's potential withdrawal from the European Convention on Human Rights. Is 'BrECHRit' a taboo subject or a tenable possibility? Find out in this engaging conversation with Dr. Bates.
Dr. Bates will be joining us at Goldsmiths Law to chart the trend that presents the UK withdrawal from the ECHR (‘BrECHRit’) as a credible position – a tenable, not taboo option anymore- and will provide a critical analysis of the same, contextualised to the various legal developments occurring in parallel with it. Professor Dimitrios Giannoulopoulos, Head of the Law Department at Goldsmiths, will be chairing and taking the opportunity to investigate with Dr. Bates contemporary developments relating to the Human Rights Act debate, during the Q & A.
