The Trainee Curriculum: PGCE Mentor Training Day
We look forward to welcoming primary and secondary mentors currently supporting our PGCE students for an all-day training on the trainee curriculum. This will be an opportunity to meet with members of staff in Educational studies and have your questions answered. The programme will cover the following topics:
Effective Orientation and Induction into School; Learning Across the Curriculum; Inducting trainees into school; Primary and Secondary Curriculum; Cognitive science approaches; Subject knowledge for teaching; Developing students’ subject knowledge; The curriculum in more detail; ITaPs; Motivation; Key theories of pupils’ motivation, including self-determination theory; Supporting pupils’ autonomy, competence and readiness in the classroom; High Expectations; Overview of key research into high expectations teaching; Goldsmiths approach to racism, and anti-racist teaching
