As part the national Big Draw event, we'll be inviting families to take part in 'Colour' - the Big Draw at Goldsmiths this year's Big Draw event exploring colour.
Join us for a celebration of drawing at Goldsmiths with a wide range of creative activities and workshops. Ideal for children up to 14yrs, visitors will be encouraged to take part in a variety of guided activities led by postgraduate trainee teachers from Goldsmiths making this free event a fun day out for the whole family.
The theme for the 2009 Big Draw event at Goldsmiths, University of London is colour. Colour is usually seen as secondary to drawing or something that fills in the spaces within a drawing. However, by using only three colours participants will be involved in activities that will challenge this conception and make colour the focus of drawing.
Last year’s Goldsmiths event was hugely successful and visitors of all ages left feedback using sticky notes on a giant notice board, comments included:
“Fantastic again. This is our 4th year coming to the Big Draw and it just seems to get better every time. Thanks to all the students for their hard work,” A parent and visitor
“Thanks a load – what an amazing craft hall! I wish I could have made EVERYTHING!” Katie, aged 6
This year Goldsmiths' Big Draw is partly sponsored by Aspire Aimhigher, the South East London partnership working to give young people in the area more opportunities to access further and higher education. The event is also supported by the Centre for Arts and Learning, a research centre at Goldsmiths dedicated to the practical and theoretical exploration of learning practices across the arts within diverse social and cultural contexts.
The Big Draw at Goldsmiths is also part of Inside Out - a major new festival curated by LCACE (the London Centre for Arts and Cultural Exchange).
