Papers will consider the contemporary status of gambling as a revenue generating process, regulation as a set of disciplinary practices, the material sociology of gambling and the experience of play.
International conference: 'Calculated risks: new perspectives on gambling' will take place at Goldsmiths in the Cinema on 17 & 18 September, 2009. Papers will consider the contemporary status of gambling as a revenue generating process, regulation as a set of disciplinary practices, the material sociology of gambling and the experience of play in Greece, Cyprus, Japan, India, China, Australia and the UK.
