Event overview
A lecture by Luc Steels, University of Brussels (VUB AI Lab) and Sony Computer Science Lab (Paris)
Language is a fluid, ever evolving system that is built up creatively and socially coordinated whenever we speak. At the moment robotics and AI technologies have become sufficiently advanced to investigate the enormously complex processes that underly this amazing capability. I will show several examples of language game experiments with humanoid robots. These experiments help us to understand fundamental issues related to the origins of language and meaning and how symbol systems can become shared in a population.
