Event overview
Art’s Chiastic Relationship with the Law Jeremy Pilcher Lawyer and researcher
Internet art has been characterised as providing a particularly effective means to critique the force of the law through its employment of networked digital technologies (Stallabrass, 2003; Paul, 2003). This reflects a more general understanding of the law and art as being in an oppositional relationship (Douzinas & Nead, 1999). However, Jeremy will propose that Derrida’s work on the performative offers a more nuanced way to approach the intersection between law and art.
