Event overview
A body-based approach to improving music performance skills. Drop-in sessions for all musicians and anyone interested in body-based learning
Led by Marilyn Wyers (PhD candidate, Goldsmiths): Pianist, Dancer and body-based music educator Seda Guney (MA student, Roehampton): Dance Movement Therapist.
These sessions offer all practicing musicians an opportunity to enhance their technical and expressive performance skills through instrumental/vocal and body-based improvisation and inventiveness. The aim is to explore the interrelationships between music and the body and notice how these connections can inform and support the music performance process. The sessions are practical and involve individual and group sound/movement tasks that focus on engaging imagination, responsiveness, kinaesthetic empathy and proprioceptive feedback systems. Please bring your instrument along to the sessions. A piano will be provided.
