***Due to a clash with the Goldsmiths Summer Ball, it has been decided to postpone this event, apologies for any inconvenience ***
Composer James Hesford - Circles is a series of works for various instruments placed in a large circle written during 24 hour non stop site specific multi media projects. These ongoing collaborations (with internationally renowned artists Ivanov and Chan) took place in locations as diverse as - a rooftop in downtown Hong Kong, a floating hut on the River Thames, an abandoned railway roundhouse in Berlin and a medieval hill top fortress in Italy. The concert will feature various compositions from this series including "Sham Shui Po" for 12 grand pianos. This spectacle performance will be preceded by a talk from James who will explain the compositional techniques and concepts that have been shaped by these demanding conditions.
This concert is part of the Department of Music's annual PureGold music festival.
