Event overview
PhD student Alex Eichenberger (cello) and Richard Black (piano) perform contemporary works for cello by Ligeti, Alfred Schnittke and Alberto Ginastera.
Alex performs regularly with Bath Philharmonic, Chiltern Symphony Orchestra, London Arts Orchestra and London Shostakovich Orchestra.
She was part of a ensemble formed to perform a newly commissioned opera at The King's Head in Angel at the beginning of year. The ensemble have since performed at NonClassical and will be taking another new work to Bestival and Grimeborn later in the year.
Alex has also performed at a series of fashion shows at Westfield and in a semifinal entry for the Place Prize for Contemporary Dance 2010.
She has performed and recorded with a number of artists including Ebony Bones, Broadcast 2000, Golden Silvers and Stephanie Fearon (BBC's Over The Rainbow), played at Glastonbury, Latuitude, Wakestock and Camp Bestival, done live sessions for BBC Radio 6 and toured Belgium and Holland with the London Community Gospel Choir.
This evening concert is part of the Department of Music's annual PureGold music festival.
Concerts are open to the public.
