VISUAL CULTURES PUBLIC FORUM
The first in a series of public forums debating contemporary concerns in visual culture, featuring David Cole on what he names the 'Petro-Citizen' and Gavin Grindon on art and civil disobedience.
David R Cole is senior lecturer in English and pedagogy at the University of Technology, Sydney. David has edited 3 books called, Multiple Literacies Theory: A Deleuzian Perspective (Sense) with Diana Masny, Multiliteracies and Technology Enhanced Education: Social Practice & the Global Classroom (IGI) with Darren Pullen, and Multiliteracies in Motion: Current Theory & Practice (Routledge) with Darren Pullen. He published a novel in 2007 called A Mushroom of Glass, his latest book is, Educational Life-forms: Deleuzian Teaching & Learning Practice (Sense). David uses his knowledge of Deleuze, multiple and affective literacies to investigate areas of educative interest.
Gavin Grindon is Postdoctoral Research Fellow in Visual and Material Culture at Kingston University and Visiting Tutor in Visual Culture at Goldsmiths. He has published articles in the Oxford Art Journal, Third Text and the Journal of Aesthetics and Protest and been involved with a number of art-activist collectives.
