Event overview
At the time of the Russian Revolution, experimentation in the arts flourished, and a group of composers emerged who pushed the structural boundaries of music. Taking the late works of Scriabin as their model, they developed post-tonal methods of pitch organisation contemporaneous with the 2nd Viennese School.
McIntyre will investigate Roslavets' Synthetic Chords and Protopopov's Theory of Modal Rhythm, as well as other musical experiments taking place in Russia simultaneously.
McIntyre did his degree in Music, University of Edinburgh and master’s in Contemporary Music Studies, Goldsmiths. He worked for Schott Contemporary Music Publishers and is currently a Classical Music Researcher for the Performing Right Society (PRS) for Music while researching a doctorate with Professor Alexander Ivashkin and Dr Craig Ayrey.
Green is acknowledged as a rising talent on the international concert circuit. He has been described as “a virtuoso pianist with sensitivity, intelligence and charm”, and “accurate and exhilarating”, (Musical Opinion).
Green is at Goldsmiths as a PhD Performance student under Professor Ivashkin and will be performing Rubinstein's Piano Etudes.
All welcome, not just for graduates!
