Event overview
Modal Resonance is a site specific sound sculpture which investigates the phenomenon of standing waves and resonant frequencies within enclosed spaces. The work explores long standing relationships between sound and architecture.
Through acoustic analysis, resonant chambers have been designed which will describe through tones the geometrical volumes within the space. By moving through the space, one will encounter the complexities of wave interaction, reverberation, interference, phase cancelation, filtration, absorption, nodes and antinodes.
Modal resonance is inherently a sound sculpture because it is experienced as much in space as it is in time.
Open to the public, midday to 7pm, all welcome
