Goldsmiths Plays presents the fourth in a series rehearsed readings of new work:
Thin Brittle Hour by Cathy Rosario, directed by Hanka Kovacova
In 1938, a Jewish lawyer sells a painting that has been in his family for generations to help finance his family’s escape from Berlin to British Palestine. After almost half a century of legal battles, Leo’s daughter Nelly forces a Berlin art gallery to return it to her in Tel Aviv; conflict and betrayal ensue.
A Technicolor Death by Nicki Heinen, directed by Hanka Kovacova
What do you say when your time has run out? Two men contemplate the end in this explosive short with a twist of black humour.
Ibrahim’s Present by Eileen Dillon, directed by Kaya Stanley-Money
When a football is kicked through the window of Srebenica survivor Fahira Omerovic, she and her son are left clearing up more than the broken glass.
Can Anybody Hear Me? by Melody Parker, directed by Lina Hölscher
Having lived abroad for many years, Alice returns home for her father's sixtieth birthday, bringing her new wife Pearl with her. Once a renowned theatre director, Alice’s father is now suffering from the effects of a severe stroke; Alice realises her family is slowly falling apart and the reunion is not going to be as easy as she had hoped.
