Event overview
Period music ensemble The Amadè Players, directed by Nick Newland perform works by Mozart and Wanhal.
Mozart: Symphony NO 16 in C major, K128
Wanhal: Concerto for Double Bass (with Jan Zahourek, soloist) and Symphony in A minor
This event is part of the Department of Music's annual PureGold Music festival.
The Amadè Players is a London-based group of musicians with a passion for historically informed performance of the music of the eighteenth-century. Whilst we perform works by the famed heros of the century, J.S. Bach, Handel, Mozart and Haydn, we will also seek to introduce audiences to less renowned composers such as Wanhal, Dittersdorf, Michael Haydn, Leopold Mozart and Myslivecek.
The Amadè Players approach concerts from both performance. The ensemble feel the crucial word is informed, and do not seek to achieve the impossible in sound creation or assuming the intent of a composer, but rather give our audience an exciting performance based upon in-depth historical and musicological research, combined with musicianship of the highest quality.
