Event overview
18th & 19th June NAB 305 A British Academy sponsored seminar over 2 days with participation from scholars from Argentina
The seminar will address questions concerning memory and politics in Latin America, with a particular but not exclusive focus on Argentina. Three scholars from Argentina - Dr Emilio Crnzel, Dr Claudia Feld, Dr Valentina Salvi - will join us specifically for this event. The seminar will consider how changing post-dictatorship landscapes continue to pose challenging questions. We are especially intrigued by the changes in strategies and approaches of key actors, and in the new communities that have arisen around new practices in relation to the past and its place in present and future political configurations. Sometimes these latter may refer to international communities, legal or diasporic; at others it refers to new affective communities and the new forms and modes of expression they utilise and enact, perhaps de-territorialising initial impulses and purposes.
As well as our guests from Argentina, other key established and emerging scholars in the field will be present, as well as doctoral students based in the UK.
Sponsored and organised by the British Academy UK-Latin America link programme and Goldsmiths Sociology's 'Unit for Global Justice'
**NB The seminar will be run as a workshop with papers circulated in advance so please let us know if you'd like to come so you can receive the papers**
