Event overview
Autumn Seminars: Department of Anthropology
Goldsmiths' Department of Anthropology is an exciting place to study and research. It is consistently at the forefront of:
. Critical anthropology
. Public engagement
. Visual practice and theory
. Innovative ways of learning beyond the classroom.
Our teaching was ranked overall top amongst British Anthropology Departments (NSS 2011). Students graduate with a solid grounding in core anthropological debates - and a chance to specialise in the latest research that staff are developing. Our research is recognised within the Academy (RAE score of 5) and by its public impact. As Gillian Tett, editor of The Financial Times, said last year: 'anthropologists should produce 'a hundred books like David Graeber's (Debt: The First 5000 Years) that challenge our long-held, institutionalised economic assumptions. The diversity of anthropology done today is incredible; the tragedy is that no-one is aware of it'.
