Event overview
Goldsmiths Literature Seminar (GLITS) presents a paper by sculptor Patsy Hickman
'A Memoir on Sculpture'
What is the consciousness that brings an artist to practice Art when painting is no longer a trade and artists have freedom of choice to paint what they want, how they want, but when Art is so rarely lucrative? And why should an artist be lead to a sudden change of heart into an entirely new aspect of the Arts? - As in my case: from drawing and painting, into sculpture.
In the manner of the memoir that I wrote here at Goldsmiths, I try to put my experience of sculpture into terms that might answer some of these questions, at any rate, in my story.
