Heavy Wind Media UK invites you to see this play by Ola Rotimi, one of Nigeria's leading playwrights and theatre directors.
Opening on the 15th December, this raucous play takes a swipe at ideological misfits and opportunists who take of the ever-accommodating politics of contemporary Africa.
Remarking comically on the political landscape of contemporary Africa, Our Husband Has Gone Mad Again is a social and political satire at its best.
The play concerned with life and marriage, is hilarious but poignant; following Major Lejoka-Brown, a political misfit who decides to tackle the arena of politics using his experiences in military combat. However, the Major's vanity, patriotism, and his attempts to adapt to a situation he can hardly grasp, produce highly comical results. His predicament is complicated further by the unexpected arrival of his American wife Liza, who discovers two more marriages contracted without her knowledge, and her husband beset by political problems.
Directed by Lookman Sanusi (Bubbles FM and author of award-winning play, Skeleton), featuring acclaimed cast members: Moji Bamtefa (Meet the Adebanjos); Tayo Elesin (Casualty, Law and Order, Doctors); Segun Ogunfidodo, Lizzy Abiola Dosunmu, theatre, film and radio actor Anthony Ofoegbu (Spooks, Casualty, The Bill, BBC Radio Drama Company 1997-98); London based Nigerian actor Femi Ogunjobi (Home); Julie Hewlett (The sweetest Mango); Frank Williams (House of Corrections); visionary, entrepreneur and accomplished entertainer Bidemi Alaran and Reginald Ofodile (Evidence of Existence, Gambler’s Debt, The Sleeping People and Bad Day.)
Ola Rotimi one of Nigeria's renowned and gifted playwrights, obtained a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from Boston University, and a Master of Fine Arts from Yale; he also earned the distinction of being a Rockefeller Foundation scholar in Playwriting and Dramatic Literature. The Department of Theatre and Performance, Goldsmiths University of London has become a hub for thinking and experiencing African theatre in the UK. It recently supported the works of Ade Solanke (Pandoras Box) and Janice Okoh (Egusi soup), both African plays from the diasporic experience. It is once again supporting the staging of this play to further position itself as an inter-disciplinary and inter-cultural centre for theatre culture in the UK.
Lookman Sanusi with the team of talented cast and crew has recreated and brought forward all the drama and comedy of Ola Rotimi's, Our Husband Has Gone Mad Again for the entertainment of the whole family this yuletide season.
