Event overview
Yaroslav Timofeev is the music reviewer for the leading Russian newspaper 'Izvestia', and will discuss tendencies in Russian contemporary music journalism and criticism, with particular focus on Russian and British cultural links and political affairs in Russia today.
Timofeev graduated from Moscow Tchaikovsky Conservatoire, the Department of Music Theory and History in 2010 and is currently a PhD student there working on his thesis ‘Borrowed music in Igor Stravinsky’s heritage’. He is a prize-winning international pianist, a composer and a church bellringer. He currently works as a presenter for the Kultura [Culture] TV channel, as chief music critic for the Izvestia newspaper, and as Head of Musicology of MolOt (The Junior Department of Russian Composers Union).
