The Early Music Experiment is a collective of baroque musicians who also write and perform contemporary music. Founded in the Spring of 2008, EME is comprised of former and current students of the major UK conservatoires.
The members of EME wish to express their wide-ranging musical interests in challenging and theatrical recitals in which harpsichords, laptops and toy pianos can co-exist peacefully. EME is a cosmopolitan group. Our members come from Spain, Portugal, Germany, Serbia, Hungary, Poland, Greece, Ireland, Scotland and England. We are united by the desire to create musical events which reflect the complicated musical landscape of 2009. Using a chosen theme to draw together the music of today and the music of centuries ago, we place ourselves firmly in the 'shuffle' generation.
In our concerts you will hear rebecs alongside digital sequencers, recorders alongside grand pianos. Our latest project is an exploration of music and medicine.
