Launch party of a new independent record label
Introducing NXRecords, an independent record label from Matthew Herbert's Accidental Records and the Popular Music Department of Goldsmiths, showcasing the finest new music coming out of New Cross, London.
We would like to invite you to an evening with some of the fine artists representing the NXRecords sound, completely free and open to the public. There will be a bar serving a variety of drinks on the evening as well.
Featuring sets by:
Dragger (DJ set): Dragger is transmissions from intensity, emotions and affect. Beat-driven ambient pop music.
Shanaz Dorsett : London-born, and of Turkish and Caribbean descent, Shanaz Dorsett tells stories of home, domesticity, and race that are both street and sweet. Think Wu-Tang Clan meets Minnie Riperton.
Niomi Eve: Niomi Eve transforms the Piano electronically. Combining haunting vocals with distorted piano samples, she creates a sound world as nostalgic as her bruised love songs.
Jimmy Marples: Drawing comparisons with a young Scott Walker, Jimmy Marples blends eerie rockabilly and atmospheric Chanson.
ANINA: A fairy tale wrapped in enigma from under the sea. Electro-acoustic ensemble "Featuring Clam-Buoyant Seabrass, Spicy Choona, and Octopulse on the blowfish... You can really eel the bass!
Thefft: Thefft’s industrial techno edge, supported by a classic, floor-friendly, groove-strong disco atmosphere, has quickly become his signature sound. His percussive and shuffled productions contain the soul of New York in the body of Berlin, with a London Mind. Support has been widespread already, with some of dance’s most respected figures, including Zed Bias, Mary Anne Hobbs, Oneman & Disclosure already firing his tracks in their sets.
